Conversing with Sigfús – Guided Tour and Talk on Photograph Preservation

Kristín Halla Baldvinsdóttir and Þórir Ingvarsson will give a talk on photograph preservation, focusing on the photographs and albums of Sigfús Eymundsson (1837-1911).
After the talk, guests are invited to a specialist tour with Einar Falur Ingólfsson of the exhibition Conversing with Sigfús – In the Footsteps of Sigfús Eymundsson.
The event takes place on May 24, Sigfús' birthday.
Sigfús was a pioneer of photography in Iceland, leaving behind an extraordinary photographic legacy.
The exhibition opened on March 8 and features works by Einar Falur and Sigfús.
For the past four years, Sigfús' images have guided Einar’s travels across Iceland, where he has recreated Sigfús’ compositions and captured his own modern interpretations.
The exhibition features a selection of these conversation pieces between Sigfús and Einar Falur, including new prints from Sigfús' original glass plates and rare 19th-century original prints.
These rare treasures from the National Museum’s Photography Collection are seldom displayed.
A must-see event for photography enthusiasts!
