Staff

On and off the scenes, a dedicated and passionate team works tirelessly to fulfil our main role: to preserve, research, and showcase our cultural heritage. Our staff is made up of curators, researchers, educators, conservators, administrators, and many other professionals who share a deep commitment to the museum's mission.
Director General office
Director General is Harpa Þórsdóttir. The Museum's Human Resources Manager also works in Director General's office. The office is located at Suðurgata 41, Reykjavík.
Collection and research
The Collection and research department is dedicated to the preservation of cultural and national heritage, including historic buildings, photographs and artifacts, preservation, research, documentation, and dissemination. Director of Collection and research is Ágústa Kristófersdóttir.
Finance
The Finance department manages the institution's finances and oversees contract management and document administration. The department is responsible for the institution's general operations, specifically the management of technology and information systems, as well as facilities and vehicle operations. Director of Finance is Þorbjörg Gunnarsdóttir.
Customer service
Customer service manages exhibitions, education, and publications, as well as the the Museum shop. Specialists in Customer service are responsible for education programs for schools, tourists, and general visitors, management of the Museum's website and social media, as well as promotional activities. Director of Customer service is Kristín Ýr Hrafnkelsdóttir.
