Tuesday Lecture: Mother of Flowers – Dazzling Blossoms and Living Craftsmanship [Icelandic]
At lunchtime on most Tuesdays, the National Museum of Iceland hosts a variety of events, including film screenings, guided tours and lectures.
On Tuesday, 22 September, historian and master dressmaker Guðrún Hildur Rosenkjær will give a lecture on the craftsmanship of Guðrún Skúladóttir, who was awarded the honorific title “Mother of Flowers,” and on Guðrún’s position as an eighteenth-century craftswoman.
Hildur will also discuss the work behind the reconstruction of the bridal costume, a project that she and Ásmundur Kristjánsson, a goldsmith at Annríki – National Costumes and Jewellery, have pursued for decades.
