Guided Tour: Surviving Þorri (mid winter)

On Tuesday, February 17th at 12pm, The National Museum offers a guided tour in celebration of the old month Þorri.
Þorri begins on Friday in the 13th week of winter, in the second half of January (January 19th–26th) and ends on Saturday when the month of Góa begins. The first day of Þorri is farmer's day and the last day of is called Þorraþræll. The name of the month, Þorri, appears in a rhymed manuscript from the end of the 12th century and in Snorri's Edda.
The tour will take you through the museum's main exhibition Making of a Nation and stops at various artifacts that can be connected to Þorri. When did Þorrablót begin? Where does the word Þorri come from?

An admission ticket to the museum is valid for the event. Please note that admission is equivalent to an annual pass to the museum.
