The Wall

Many of us seek a deeper connection to life, the self, or something exalted, to other dimensions and wolds, to gods, rituals and customs. Over time people´s religious practice has changed and people have sought out different ways to fulfill their need for spiritual nourishment. The spiritual pathways offered in Iceland are diverse and people seem to have become more open to new ideas. Here we see  individuals who have chosen non-traditional paths in their spiritual concerns.

Heiða Helgadóttir (b. 1975) has worked in photojournalism for Icelandic newspapers for 14 years. In recent years she has received many awards for her photographs from the Icelandic Press Photographers' Association. Her style is shaped by her personal approach, an unusual use of color, and photo essays on social issues.
