Experience the Viking Age at the National Museum!

Members of the Viking group Rimmugýgur will be at the museum in full costume, showcasing various handmade and historically inspired items, such as hnefatafl games, combs, spindles, jewelry, and more. It's as if the exhibition pieces come to life in the hands of those who know how to use them!
A museum educator will be on hand to chat with visitors about fascinating aspects of the Viking Age.
The Rimmugýgur craft group has studied the burial goods and clothing of the woman found at Daðastaðir, recreating artifacts based on their interpretations. Visitors can compare these replicas with the originals on display. Were they like this when new, over 1,000 years ago? What do you think?
Do you know how to play hnefatafl? No one knows the exact rules, but there is a great version to try!
On the ground floor play area, kids can piece together a burial puzzle, play with old-fashioned toys, color Viking-themed pictures, and handle high-quality replicas of Viking Age objects. They can also try on Viking costumes and gear!
Bring the kids and step into history at the National Museum!
Admission is free for children under 18. Adults pay 3,000 ISK, which includes an annual pass for all museum events and exhibitions.
