The Windmill on Vigur Island

A visit to Vigur, an island in Ísafjarðardjúp, is memorable for many reasons, including its birdlife, picturesque houses, and the Windmill, which is one of its kind.
The Windmill on Vigur is the only preserved wooden wind-powered grain mill in Iceland. It is believed to have been built around 1860 by Daníel Hjaltason, a goldsmith, but it has since been enlarged and improved.
Since 1992, the Windmill has been part of the Historic Buildings collection.
