Sjávarborgar Curch in Skagafjörður
Sjávarborg Church in Skagafjörður stands on Borg, a rocky headland a short distance from Sauðárkrókur, which rises high above the surrounding flatlands. There was a church there at least from the 14th century.
The church is made from timber, built by Ólafur Guðmundsson of Húsey in 1853. The house originally stood just north of the old turf farm.
In 1891, the church was deconsecrated and used as a warehouse for several years before being moved from its original location around 1930. In 1983, it was relocated once again and rededicated.

Since 1972, it has been part of the Historic Buildings collection of the National Museum of Iceland. In 1983, it was relocated once again and rededicated. Guests are welcome at their own responsibility. Please take care of the house and surroundings when visiting.
