On April 13, 2004, the first object of the museum’s permanent exhibition, the rowboat Ingjaldur, was placed in the exhibition hall. But how did a rowboat get into the museum?

The educators at the National Museum of Iceland are sometimes asked how on earth the rowboat was brought into the exhibition hall. This video reveals the answer. The photos were taken on April 13, 2004, marking a milestone in the preparation of the museum’s permanent exhibition, as its first exhibit—the rowboat Ingjaldur—was placed in the new exhibition space.
