The book is based on Dr. Steinunn Kristjánsdóttir's research project Monasticism in Iceland. Kristjánsdóttir is a Professor in Archaeology at the University of Iceland/National Museum of Iceland. The research project traced any leads on monastic activities in Iceland from 1030-1554.
