Langa blokkin í Breiðholti / The Long Apartment Block in Upper Breiðholt

The length of the building is about 320 meters, and at first glance it resembles a fortress wall. Within it there are twenty stairways and 200 apartments where several hundred people live. David Barreiro photographed the building, the residents and the environment at their home. The residents have in common the experience of moving to Iceland from many parts of the world.

David Barreiro was born in 1982 in Galicia, Spain. In 2016, he received a grant from the Hjalmar R. Bárðarsson in the National Museum of Photography of Iceland and the exhibition is the result of the grant.

The exhibition The Long Apartment Block in Upper Breiðholt was installed in the National Museum of Iceland Gallery in 2018.
